Archaeological Fieldwork

  • Since 2016 Co-Director of the Fara Regional Survey project (FARSUP).
  • 2015/16 Co-Director of the excavations at Gird-i Kazhaw (Iraqi Kurdistan).
  • 1993–2010 Director (together with Dr. Adelheid Otto) of the Archaeological mission at Tall Bazi (North Syria).
  • 1991, 1992 Director of the Archaeological Survey of the Western Jazira (North Syria).
  • 1991, 1992 Field Supervisor at the excavations in Rusafa and the topographical survey of Sura (Syria; Director Prof. Dr. T. Ulbert).

Settlement archaeology of Mesopotamia and Syria, historical geography, digital archaeological methods, GIS, archaeometry, beer brewing in the Ancient Near East, Bronze Age pottery.
