Doctorate

In Munich, you can also graduate in the subject of Near Eastern Archaeology. If you wish to do so, please directly contact the Head of the Institute, Mrs Prof. Dr. Adelheid Otto.

The graduation regulations of the LMU stipulate that - in addition to your doctoral thesis in your main subject - you have to acquire a Hauptseminarschein in a subsidiary subject. In your final exam you may choose between Disputatio and Rigorosum; you are no longer required to prove language skills in Latin.

The most important alterations in the new graduation regulations: in addition to your principal subject you only need one further subsidiary subject (with one main seminar). There is the possibility of a Disputatio. You do not have to prove Latin language skills.

The Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München has a central coordination- and service institution (GraduateCenter-LMU); they will provide you with information on doctoral theses in general, existing doctoral programmes and events for further education.
